Empowered To Be A Witness

May 24, 2026    Pastor Wiliams

This powerful message centers on Acts 1:4-8, exploring what it truly means to be empowered witnesses for Christ. We're reminded that God has interrupted human history twice with dramatic language changes: first at the Tower of Babel where He scattered people by confusing their tongues, and second at Pentecost where He gathered people by giving them supernatural ability to understand one another. The contrast is striking - Babel represented humanity's attempt to reach heaven without God, while Pentecost represented God's plan to unite believers for His purpose. The message unpacks different types of witnesses: eyewitnesses who testify to what they've personally experienced, expert witnesses who share specialized knowledge, and character witnesses who speak to someone's reputation. We're challenged to recognize that while we may not have physically seen Jesus perform miracles, we are eyewitnesses to what He's done in our own lives. Nobody can take away our personal testimony of transformation. The baptism of the Holy Spirit isn't just for emotional experiences or church services - it's power for effective service and bold witnessing. Three marks define a true witness: they've seen something transformative, they speak what they personally know rather than opinions, and they live what they declare. Our lives become the evidence of Christ's power, making our walk our testimony and our transformation our proof.
