Born Again

Jun 28, 2026    Pastor Gary Lee

This powerful message confronts us with a challenging question: Are we truly transformed, or are we simply modifying our behavior? Drawing from John 3:1-8, we encounter Nicodemus—a religious expert, a Pharisee who knew the law inside and out, yet Jesus tells him he must be born again. The text reveals something profound: religious knowledge and church attendance don't equal spiritual transformation. We can have all the right information without experiencing genuine life change. The message exposes a dangerous epidemic in our churches today—people who mistake attendance for discipleship, who confuse religious performance with relationship. Jesus wasn't impressed by crowds or compliments because He knew what was in people's hearts. The call to be born again isn't about adding more rules or religious activities to our lives; it's about complete transformation from the inside out. We're challenged to examine whether we're asking 'How much can I get away with before God is angry?' or 'What makes God smile?' The difference reveals whether we've experienced true conversion or are simply managing our image. This isn't about earning salvation through perfect behavior—it's about allowing God to break us, remake us, and carry us close to Him until we're healed enough to walk in genuine freedom.
